1.0      Security Access Management System Overview




Today security access management system solutions overview, I will be sharing more information on Face Recognition Access Control System. Face Recognition System is an inteligent and efficient technology for controling and monitoring the movement of personnel through security doors. The system will allow authorized staff using face recognition to gain access to the security areas. The access right will be determined based on access levels, time zones and locations.

A part from control and monitor the movement of personnel, the face recognition access control system will be used to detect any breach of security or unauthorised intrusion and raise an alarm. The alarm will be logged and transmitted to the server and visualised in the operator’s control room. 

The Face Rognition Access Control is designed to monitor and controls the movement of personnel and detect any intrusion within premises.

a)         IT peripheral (eg. Server, Workstation, Network Switch etc.)
b)     Security door accessories such as override key switches, door release buttons, emergency break glass and electro-magnetic lock.
c)          Face recognition terminal, 
d)          Finger print access control terminal,
e)          Secure Module Control Unit
f)           Enrollment Station
g)          Security Access Management System Software


2.0      System Design Requirement

2.1      System Design Concept 


The proposed Face Recognition Access Controls will be used to control and monitor the movement of personels through security doors within the premises. The Face Recognition Access system is designed based on individual concept and each door will have an individual Face Recognition Terminal at each doors (Figure 1). The terminal at each door will connect to door accessories such as electromagnetic lock, door sensor, emergency break glass and override key switch. The Face Recognition Terminal will control, monitor and command the door accessories operation. The Face Recognition Terminal will communicate with the workstation/server via network communication. 





2.2      Door Configuration Design 

Each premises may have their own unique design, it’s really depends on end user requirement. We at One Touch Controls Sdn Bhd is able to design your Building Security System accrodingly to suit your environment/operations. Do acknowledge that this is just a basic door configuration design as it’s may not suitable for your building.

Each of the door configuration will have door accesories depending on type of doors being use at sites (eg. Roller Shutter, Glass Door, Double Leaves Door, Wooden Door, Vault Door, Turnstile, Airgate, Car Barrier Access etc). Figure 2 below is the basic door configuration. 




3.0      System Architecture


The Face Recognition system architecture work can also work as a standalone system. The security access control software will control and monitor the whole door within the facility. All the doors within the building will be connecting to the same access control software. 


3.1      Overall System Architecture





Workstation and server will be located in the same control room together with other security system (eg. CCTV, PAGA, Buidling Automation System etc). Workstation or server will have the capabilty to monitor door equipment status as well as to control the door access. Besides that, workstation is also able to store such big data on transaction history for at least 90 days. The workstation and face recognition terminal will sync together through LAN network switch as per Figure 3.


4.0 Security Access Management System


The backend of the system is the most important thing. They are the brain of the whole security system. It’s depending on how big is the requirement set by the end user. It could be a standalone system, Enterprise system, or require other high level integration such as, Visitor Management System, Fatique Management System, Headcount Management System or even CCTV or BMS as well. 

There are many brand/product that could communicate with this Face Recognition Access Controls eg. Lernel, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemen, Tyco, MAG, Microengine etc. All these depending on end user requirement and also the size of the project (High Scale, Medium Scale or Small Scale).


4.1      Hardware Requirement


The door access control system is designed to control and monitor the access of the door and roller shutters. Following are the major hardware required in the EAC system:


  1. Face Recognition Terminal
  2. Time Attendance Management Reader 
  3. Enrollment device
  4. Secure module
  5. Electro-Magnetic Lock 
  6. Door Sensor or known as Magnetic Door Contact
  7. Break-Glass
  8. Security Access Management Workstation


4.1.1 Face Recognition Terminal


Face recognition terminal is a kind of access control device with large screen ratio, which support 1:N face authentication, fingerprint authentication, card authentication etc. it can be mainly applied in multiple scenarios, such as government building, banking, public transportation, Oil and gas etc.

4.1.2 Time Attendance Management Reader


It’s a standalone IP based Fingerprint Access Control Terminal to capture the time attendance management. Combining with the self-developed fingerprint recognition technology and stable product quality. It can be widely used in different application scenarios. Self-defined Time Attendance function empower your management conveniently, bringing more value and better user experience.

4.1.3 Enrollment device


The enrollment station can realize multiple user information’s enrollment on one device. The device is 3.97-inch LCD touch screen for face recognition, parameters configuration and live view. The device is capable to capture 2,000 user capacity and 2,000 face capacity. Enrolls data via the device and transmits the data from the device to the platform via TCP/IP protocol.

4.1.4 Secure module


Secure Door Control Unit is the interlayer between the access control terminal and the lock, including the door magnetic, the lock, the exit button and so on. It can be applied to keep the door closed when the door is damaged.

4.1.5 Electromagnetic Lock


The electromagnetic lock is used to secure and release the door upon receiving signal from face recognition terminal.When there is no power to the electromagnetic lock, the lock will automatically unlock.

4.1.6 Door Sensor


The door sensor will be used as an input device installed at the doorframe to provide input signal to the Face Recognition Terminal.

4.1.7 Break Glass


The break-glass will be used to release electromagnetic lock during emergency. Emergency Break glass will install inside the room to allow users to release the electromagnetic lock during emergency. Once the user break the glass the emergency break glass will automatically cut off the power to electromagnetic lock and the door will unlock when the emergency break glass cut off the power to electromagnetic lock.
